NW Mark Masons Motorcycle Group -  Goes into Space

On Wednesday October 26th 2022 Iain Wilson and Colin Mills Treasurer and Secretary of the Group visited the Preston Space Centre, to donate a cheque on behalf of the Group to Jane Robinson the manageress of the centre.

The cheque in excess of £600 has been collected over the years, commencing in 2016 from subs. and donations on ride outs.

The centre has three rooms, fully rigged with tracks to enable patients with mobility problems to be moved into the rooms and be located in the correct part of them, all the surfaces are padded to protect the occupants, and various lighting effects, music, and animal noises that create a soothing and calming effect can be projected into the rooms.

When we visited there was a large party of people there, with various mobility and special needs, who had just completed their hour long session, and they all appeared to be very relaxed and gave us a welcoming Hello as we entered the reception area.

The centre is open to everyone, and you can book an hour long session, it is mainly used by school groups, special needs groups, resident associations etc.. There is a café there and a very large garden, which they hope to level various areas and put paths in with different surfaces on them to create interest and stimulate visually impaired clients. The garden was designed by an eminent designer in the past and there is a preservation order on it, hence there is a great deal of planning applications to be sorted which they are in the process of going through, but are hopeful of a good outcome.
The photograph shows Iain on his Ducati with Jane Robinson manageress of the centre (an ex-biker who used to ride a Triumph Bonneville)  Colin Mills and a member of the staff.
